Top 10 Sports Movies of All-Time

Movies and sports are my passion and when you combine the two I'm in sheer ecstasy. The list is not based on the box office gross or Oscar awards, but they are movies that I have personally enjoyed enough to watch more than once. Several of them have became like old friends over the years.

HONORABLE MENTIONS: Coach Carter, Million Dollar Baby, White Men Can't Jump, Happy Gilmore, Waterboy, Talladega Nights, The Mighty Ducks, The Sandlot, The Longest Yard, Any Given Sunday

So without further adieu, I give you my top 10...

10. The Rookie (2002)

What can I say? I'm a sucker for true stories. "The Rookie" is about a high school chemistry teacher who has a wicked arm and becomes the oldest rookie in Major League history.

9. Major League (1989)

A baseball comedy classic. You could ask ten different people to name their favorite character from Major League and you might get ten different answers.

8. A League of Their Own (1992)

Another great "true-story" baseball flick with so many classic lines. One of my favorite Tom Hanks performances, just behind Forest Gump.

7. Friday Night Lights (2004)

While Friday Night Lights tells the story of an old town in west Texas that lives and dies by high school football, the movie is about so much more than that. It’s a story of an entire town, a team, and a dream.

6. Remember The Titans (2000)

The 'feel good' movie of 'feel good' movies. A powerful film with incredible performances by both Denzel Washington and Will Patton. It's a true story about two men who overcome their differences and become champions.

5. Field of Dreams (1989)

As far as sports movies go, I'd say "Field of Dreams" is a no-hitter. It's the perfect blend of warm hearted emotion and baseball.

4. Hoop Dreams (1994)

Hoop Dreams is a documentary where the camera follows two basketball players from 9th grade all the way through High School as they try to achieve their biggest dream which is to make it to the NBA.

3. Caddyshack (1980)

Caddyshack is a classic comedy that has stood the test of time and is still a hilarious movie to watch to this day.

2. Hoosiers (1986)

A basketball movie about hard work, dedication, second chances, and dreams.

1. Rocky (1979)

I'm sorry to those of you that were expecting something else here, but I've never watched a more motivational movie. Whenever I feel defeated, or like I 'can't' do something, I always look back at this movie and think about how Rocky got up in the 14th round when everyone was telling him to stay down.

There you go. That's my list. Did I miss anything? What's your top 10 sports movies of all-time?
